If you’re a Mac fan, you’ve probably always wanted to see the London MacExpo from inside: from behind the tables and in the booths, working hand in hand with the exhibitors. Well, here’s your chance.
Intego, the leader in Macintosh Internet Security software, is looking for a couple of Mac fans to work at our booth for the 2007 London MacLive Expo, which will be held at the the National Hall, Olympia, Kensington in London, from October 25-27, 2006.
We are seeking candidates with Mac OS X backgrounds, who have a good knowledge of Mac OS X software, and who like to show others how things work. You’ll need to be hard working, friendly and patient. Familiarity with Intego software is a plus.
We are seeking several people for our booth:
Hosts/Hostesses will help encourage customers to visit the Intego booth, will direct the customers to the right people on the stand, and distribute brochures, as well as other show tasks. You should be friendly, presentable and outgoing.
Demonstrators will help demonstrate Intego software to potential customers. You must be a Mac expert, with strong knowledge of Mac OS X and experience working with a variety of software and explaining it to others. You will be expected to conduct demonstrations of all of Intego’s software to potential customers in the booth. We are looking for four demonstrators.
Salespeople will assist in direct sales of Intego applications to customers. This will include everything from providing product information, entering sales data, and possibly explaining features as well. You should have at least a basic knowledge of how to operate on a Mac, and be friendly and outgoing. We are looking for two salespeople.
Interpol is seeking the help of the public in the search for a pedophile whose face can be seen in many pictures with children. His face was blurred in these pictures, but Interpol technicians managed to “unblur” him. His picture can be seen on the web site linked at the beginning of this paragraph.
Intego Content Barrier protects children from the dangers of the Internet, including pornography, and the types of pictures this person had taken and distributed over the Internet. We feel that protecting our children includes not just shielding them from offensive content, but helping eliminate this content from the Internet, as much as possible.
Should you have any idea who this person is, contact Interpol using the links on their website. Keep the Internet a safe place for all.
Microsoft today issued security updates for Office 2004 for Mac, and for Virtual PC 6.1 and 7, for Mac. The Office update resolves the following:
“This critical security update resolves a privately reported vulnerability. This vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user viewed a specially crafted Web page. The vulnerability could be exploited through attacks on Object Linking and Embedding (OLE).”
And this too:
“This security update resolves a privately reported vulnerability in addition to other security issues identified during the course of the investigation. These vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Excel file.”
(More information on Microsoft’s web site, here and here.)
And the Virtual PC update fixes this:
“This important security update resolves one privately reported vulnerability. This is an elevation of privilege vulnerability. The vulnerability in Microsoft Virtual PC and Microsoft Virtual Server could allow a guest operating system user to run code on the host or another guest operating systems.”
(More information on this page.)
You can download updaters for both these issues on this web page.
Keep safe!
