As we pointed out last week, all of Intego’s Mac security programs are fully compatible with Snow Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6, and have been since before the release of Snow Leopard last Friday. However, an article on bMighty.com points out that some of our competitors’ antivirus programs are not at all compatible with Snow Leopard.
Many virus scanners, including some mentioned in my last post, don’t work any more either. McAfee VirusScan 8.6 and Norton AntiVirus 11.0 will get moved to the Incompatible folder, while Intego VirusBarrier X4 will be blocked from opening. New versions of VirusScan and AntiVirus are so far unavailable, while VirusBarrier is up to X5.
(Note that while VirusBarrier X4 is not compatible with Snow Leopard, that program was supplanted by VirusBarrier X5 in January 2008.)
We find it surprising that other major Mac security companies haven’t worried about compatibility before the Snow Leopard release. Intego’s software has always been compatible on the day of every major Mac OS X release, and will continue to be so in the future.
